Malaysia Business Group at Food & Drinks Malaysia 2024

Food and Drinks Malaysia (FDM) is an international food and beverage trade exhibition that brings together food and beverage industry professionals from around the world. Held from 2 to 4 July at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur, the B2B trade event is a platform for exhibitors to showcase a diverse range of food and beverage products to a global audience.

The launch of Food and Drinks Malaysia 2024, in its second year since its inception in 2023, was officiated by Mr Henri Tan, Director of Comexposium Asia Pacific, Mr Nicolas Trentesaux, CEO of SIAL Network and YB Datuk Chan Foong Hin, Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities, on the first day of the exhibition at Hall 4 of the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre.

Mr Henri Tan shared that Malaysia is an attractive destination for business events and the food and beverage industry, as the region shows high growth potential for food, beverage and commodities exports. In addition, consumers in the region are more adventurous, keen to explore new flavours and have higher spending power. YB Datuk Chan Foong Hin also shared that Food and Drinks Malaysia plays a crucial role in the nation's progress in the food and beverage sector and in driving economic growth.

As a gateway to regional and international markets, Food and Drinks Malaysia presents significant opportunities for the Malaysia Business Group. Food and Drinks Malaysia 2024 is the Malaysia Business Group’s second participation in the exhibition, following its successful debut at the 2023 inaugural edition. A total of seven companies from the Malaysia Business Group are participating in the exhibition this year, which includes Linaco Ingredients Sdn Bhd, Nims Adeliciousz Sdn Bhd, Ganda Kota Sdn Bhd, Eco Bee Biotech Sdn Bhd, ES Food Industries Sdn Bhd, The Vida World Sdn Bhd and WellB Food & Beverage Sdn Bhd.

Linaco Ingredients Sdn Bhd specialised in the manufacture of coconut-based products such as coconut water, coconut milk, coconut oil and more. Their product range also includes traditionally brewed sauces and ready-to-cook herbal soup mixes. To allow visitors to experience the quality and versatility of their products, they also conducted various food sampling activities throughout the exhibition. For instance, they collaborated with Chef Ong of Smart Junior Chef to prepare several traditional Malaysian dishes, such as nasi lemak using Rasaku's coconut cream, Yuen Chun's Malaysian favourite Mee Mamak and Claypot Kau, a chicken herbal broth.

Meanwhile, Nims Adeliciousz Sdn Bhd manufactures ready-to-eat chocolate coated cereal snacks. Their signature product, Nims Crispy Choco Tub, are a crispy, crunchy and creamy delight that contains no additives and added sugar. ES Food Industries Sdn Bhd, on the other hand, manufactures ready-to-cook pastes and other cooking ingredients. They produce cooking paste, chilli paste, tamarind pastes, fried onion beans and spices, starch and flour, under the brands Cheffaro, Cap Udang Bumi and SureRasa.

The 2024 edition of Food and Drinks Malaysia hosted over 500 local and international exhibitors and 15,000 visitors from 60 countries, with an estimated total of USD 300 million in transactions. The main highlights of the event were the 3rd Global Culinary Challenge Malaysia, FDM 2024 Halal Forum and the “Future Food Frontier: Transforming Tomorrow’s Food and Agriculture” conference. In a continued effort to drive food innovation and excellence, the SIAL Innovation Awards will be introduced in the next edition of the Food and Drinks Malaysia exhibition.  

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the first SIAL show that was held in Paris in 1964. The SIAL Network has expanded globally since its inception, establishing eleven leading food and beverage exhibitions across Europe, North America, Asia and North Africa. Exhibitions under the SIAL Network includes SIAL Paris, Paris Gourmet, Salon du Fromage, SIAL Canada in Montreal, SIAL Canada in Toronto, SIAL in China Shanghai, SIAL in China Shenzhen, SIAL Interfood, SIAL India, Food and Drinks Malaysia, and Djazagro.
