Malaysia Business Group at Franchise Expo Malaysia 2024

The Franchise Expo Malaysia is a pivotal event for advancing knowledge, growth and investment opportunities in the franchising industry. Positioned to be the leading franchise expo in Malaysia and South East Asia, the event provides a platform for local and international businesses to explore the latest industry trends and connect with key stakeholders. Held from 11 to 13 July, the 2024 edition of the Franchise Expo Malaysia, themed “Invest In The Future”, promotes the integration of technological advancement and the growth of superior entrepreneurship.

The launch of the Franchise Expo Malaysia was officiated by Mr Terry Tay, organising chairperson of the event, Datuk Ken Phua, President of MRCA, and Yang Mulia Raja Badrulnizam Raja Kamalzaman, Senior Director of Strategic Planning of MATRADE on 11 July at Hall 4 of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

During the opening ceremony, Datuk Ken Phua announced that Malaysia's export trade remained resilient, achieving a year-on-year growth of 10.3 percent and reaching RM246 billion in May 2024. This information is based on the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry’s (MITI) recent trade report, which also highlighted that there was a 4.5 percent increase in exports to RM605.25 billion and a 13.7 percent rise in imports to RM553.24 billion.

The Franchise Expo Malaysia presents opportunities for members of the Malaysia Business Group to showcase their products and ingredients to a wide audience, as well as meet and connect with potential franchisees from Malaysia and beyond. Five companies from the Malaysia Business Group participated in the event, which includes Way Sauce Sdn Bhd, Mamami Shoppe (M) Sdn Bhd, Federal Oats Mills Sdn Bhd, Ganda Kota Sdn Bhd and Linaco Ingredients Sdn Bhd.

Way Sauce Sdn Bhd specialises in manufacturing a diverse range of Asian sauces, such as black scallion sauce, assam laksa sauce, briyani sauce, tom yam sauce, and more. Crafted using natural ingredients and sourced from reliable producers, Way Sauce Sdn Bhd’s sauces are a flavourful and delectable addition to any dish. Their products also contain no added preservatives, artificial colours and flavours.

Meanwhile, Mamami Shoppe (M) Sdn Bhd is a manufacturer of organic, natural and healthy foods. Catering to various tastes and dietary preferences such as vegan, keto and lactose-free diets, their product range includes healthy beverages, baking flour, noodles, oats, beans and grains. Federal Oats Mills Sdn Bhd is another healthy food manufacturer, specialising in the manufacture of oat-based products such as instant oatmeal, granola and oat milk.

Ganda Kota Sdn Bhd is a manufacturer of coconut-based ingredients and coconut snacks. Aside from their signature roasted coconut chunks, Ganda Kota Sdn Bhd also offers coconut rice pop, coconut cookies, coconut candy and coconut flakes. Linaco Ingredients Sdn Bhd manufactures coconut-based products as well, in particular coconut milk, coconut cream and coconut oil under the brand Rasaku, and coconut water under the brand COWA.

Organised by the Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA), Franchise Expo Malaysia has significantly grown in size and recognition since its inception in 2016. Beginning with three halls and 230 booths in the inaugural event, the 2024 edition now features over 500 booths from more than 10 countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Cambodia and India. The event is a catalyst for the growth and development of the Malaysian franchise industry and is expected to expand even further in the following year.
