SIAL Paris 2022, Paris
Established in 1964, SIAL Paris is the largest food fair in the world. Since its inception, this biennial exhibition has attracted exhibitors and visitors from over 200 countries. This year, 7200 exhibitors are expected to attend SIAL Paris, with 119 participating countries.
SIAL Paris serves as a platform in uniting the food community, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and ideas. Exhibitors can also showcase their products, increasing their brand visibility and boosting their sales in the international market. Besides that, SIAL is an opportunity for businesses to connect with other people in the food industry and build new partnerships.
SIAL Paris will also be hosting several events, which includes SIAL Startup, SIAL La Cuisine, SIAL Talks, SIAL Future Lab, and SIAL Innovation. With SIAL Startup, start-up businesses are provided with the opportunity to meet new potential financial partners. Meanwhile, at SIAL La Cuisine, there will be culinary activities and demonstrations performed by experts in the culinary industry.
SIAL Talks is a space for debate and discussion among experts in the food industry. Some of the topics that will be addressed are adaptability to climate issues, challenges of traceability, new distribution formats and food processing techniques, and the consequences of the price explosion of raw materials. SIAL Future Lab, on the other hand, will allow visitors to explore future food trends, in particular agriculture, retail and dining trends in the year 2030.
At SIAL Innovation, visitors of SIAL Paris will get the chance to see the latest food trends and innovations in the food industry. This will serve as a source of inspiration for businesses, allowing them to find fresh ideas and applications for their own products. Being aware of the new developments in the food industry would also allow businesses to adapt their products and services to the market’s new demands.
Recently, SIAL Paris have conducted research on the current food trends and published a report on it, titled SIAL Insights 2022. According to this research, two-thirds of consumers have changed their habits to a healthier diet in the last two years. Consumers now seek healthier and more authentic products with simple recipes, especially products which are unprocessed and 100 percent natural.
The interest in healthier foods has been attributed to an increased awareness of the benefits of healthy eating, as well as an increase in food allergies among the world’s population. Due to this, many have expressed an interest in natural, gluten free and vegetarian products. This has also led to consumers being more attentive of the compositions and ingredients of food products. Moreover, they tend to seek more information about the product by reading product labels or searching online for product ratings.
SIAL Insights also reported that the ongoing COVID crisis has led to changes in eating behaviours, such as a heightened interest in home cooking. The e-commerce industry has also experienced a large growth as consumers have taken to shopping online. Besides that, the COVID crisis has encouraged new trends in product evolution. For instance, there is an increase in products with immunity claims, as well as promises of reduced fat, salt and sugar.
SIAL Paris 2022 will be held from 15 to 19 October 2022 at Parc des Expositions de Paris-Nord Villepinte. The fair will be open from 10am to 6:30pm on Saturday to Tuesday, and will be open from 10am to 5pm on Wednesday.
