The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) has launched the Madani Digital Trade (MDT), a transformative initiative designed to assist Malaysian businesses navigate the rapidly evolving global market. The launch of the initiative was officiated by the Minister of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI), Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, on 13 March 2025 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

In today’s fast-paced world, digital transformation has become increasingly important for businesses to remain competitive. By embracing digital transformation, businesses can overcome challenges such as outdated processes, increased competition, and evolving customer expectations, while also achieving greater efficiency, innovation, and providing an enhanced customer experience. Key components of digital transformation include the adoption of modern technology, streamlining and automating workflows, and developing digital skills and culture within the organisation.

In 2024, Malaysia total trade was recorded at RM2.88 trillion, marking its highest trade value in history. Total exports also surpassed RM1.5 trillion mark for the second time in history. According to MATRADE Chairman, YB Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, this performance reflects the competitiveness and high global demand for Malaysian products.

However, Dato' Seri Reezal Merican also highlighted that the year 2025 is filled with uncertainties, due to policy changes by economic powerhouses, ongoing trade wars and disputes, and geopolitical tensions. As the global trade ecosystem becomes increasingly complex and competitive, Malaysian businesses needs to be prepared and develop diversified strategies. To assist businesses in overcoming these challenges, MATRADE introduced the Madani Digital Trade, which enhances and facilitates market accessibility.

The launch of the Madani Digital Trade initiative represents Malaysia’s commitment to digital transformation, leveraging advanced technologies to create a seamless, inclusive, and globally competitive trade ecosystem. The initiative was developed in collaboration with Nazsoft Tech Sdn Bhd, a software development and digital transformation consultant.
