MSMA 2025: Future Ready Manufacturing Tea Talk and Networking event at Menara MATRADE on 23 April 2025. 

Malaysia's global competitiveness has been on a downward trend in recent years, ranking as the 34^th most competitive economy in 2024. This marks a drop from its 27^th position in 2023 and places Malaysia behind neighbouring ASEAN countries, such as Thailand and Indonesia. One of the key factors contributing to this decline is the slow pace of digital adoption among businesses, which limits productivity and overall efficiency. With the growing uncertainty and competitiveness in the global economy, it is crucial for businesses to be future-ready and stay ahead of the curve to remain relevant and competitive.

In an effort to address these challenges, the Malaysia Smart Manufacturing Awards (MSMA) was introduced to promote innovation, resilience, and intelligent transformation within the manufacturing sector. By recognising companies that embrace embracing smart technologies and innovation, MSMA encourages adoption of these technologies in the sector and positions Malaysia as a global leader in smart manufacturing.

Organised by MIDF, Bizsphere Brand & Marketing Group, and Smart4wrd, MSMA has established itself as the leading standard for recognising excellence in Malaysia’s smart manufacturing landscape. The main objectives of MSMA are to establish Malaysia as a smart manufacturing hub, promote collaboration and knowledge sharing, facilitate manufacturers to become smart factories, drive economic growth and competitiveness, and attract investments and talents.

MSMA 2025 will inspire the sector by featuring achievements in smart factory transformation, with the theme “Intelligent Factories, Resilient Future.” Intelligent Factories highlights the shift towards smart, integrated automated technology, data acquisition, and data analytics to increase productivity. Meanwhile, Resilient Future emphasises the need for robust and sustainable manufacturing practices that can adapt to market challenges and environmental demands in a rapidly evolving digital world.

MSMA recognises companies across various categories that have demonstrated excellence in the implementation of smart manufacturing practices. The award categories include SMART SMEs, SMART Mid-Tier, and SMART Corporation, Data-Driven Sustainability Excellence, People Excellence, and Technology Excellence. Winners are selected based on three main judging criteria, which are the performance of adoption, level of company-wide involvement, and adoption and integration of industry 4.0 in the company's business strategy.

The benefits of receiving a MSMA award includes a one percent rebate on financing rate from MIDF, complimentary industry 4.0 and brand-building training, brand exposure via the Smart4wrd’s Communication platforms, access to specially curated industry 4.0 solution packages, exclusive invitations to local and international smart factory visits.
