China International Import Expo was first launched in 2018, and will continue to be held annually. CIIE was established by the Chinese government to give firm support to trade liberalization and economic globalization, as well as actively open the Chinese market to the world. The expo facilitates countries and regions all over the world to strengthen economic cooperation and trade. In addition, it’ll promote global trade and world economic growth in order to make the world economy more open.

The exhibition welcomes government officials, business communities, exhibitors and professional purchasers across the world to participate in CIIE and to explore the Chinese market. They sought to work with all countries, regions and international organizations to make CIIE a world-class Expo, providing new channels for countries and regions to do business, strengthen cooperation and promote common prosperity of the world economy and trade.

The second China International Import Expo attracted over 3,800 participating international exhibitors from 181 countries. The expo was attended by nearly 1 million visitors, with half a million being registered professionals. Deals reached for one-year purchases of goods and services in the expo was over USD 70 billion, a marked increase from last year.

The expo also conducted around 400 activities such as seminars, talks, conferences, and press briefings. This includes policy analysis by various ministries, reports by WTO and UNIDO, research papers presented by academicians and others.
